Dr. B. D. Gupta, passed M. D. (Paediatrics) in 1976 and joined as CAS & Tutor in 1976, promoted to Asst. Professor in 1977, Associate Professor in 1979 & Professor and Head of the Department in 1993 in the Department of Paediatrics (for 17 years), DR. S.N. Medical College Jodhpur. He has undergraduate teaching experience of over 33 years and postgraduate teaching experience of 32 years. He has been examiner for M.D Paediatrics for last 30 years for various universities eg. university of rajasthan, AIIMS Delhi, PGI Chandigarh, University of Delhi, Indore University etc. He has over 140 publications, 20 chapters in various books and presented several papers in various National & International Conferences. He has delivered many lectures at various levels in conferences workshops, seminars and symposia. He has edited a books named Recent Trends in Pediatrics Vol I, Pediatrics Neurology , Child Health and social pediatrics and authored a book on Malaria of which IVth Edition has been published in 2019. He was Joint Organizing Secretary of Silver Jubilee National conference at Jodhpur.

He has been member of National Editorial and Advisory Board for various Journals of National & International repute. He is editor in chief of monthly E-bulletin of pediatrics since 2019. He had been Chairman of Rajasthan State Branch (IAP) in 1994, General Secretary in 1979, 1984 and 1988. Member of the Executive Board of central IAP 1995, 1999, 2004 He is Life Member of various sub specialty chapters of IAP (namely Pediatric Neurology, Infectious diseases, Respiratory chapter, Nutrition and Gastroenterology), IMA, Association of Physicians of India and BPNI. He has been awarded FIAP in 1995 at Mangalore and best city coordinator by BPNI in 2002. He was Superintendent, Umaid Hospital for Women & Children,Regional Institute of Maternal and child health from 1April 1999 to 31 July 2009. He was Administrative Head of RIMCH & Additional Principal of Dr. S.N. Medical College Jodhpur.Indian Academy of Pediatrics has confered lifetime achievement award at Mumbai confefrence of IAP on 5th Feb 2021
